What NCOER Helper is for

The helper is a continuity tool for rated NCOs and raters who hate reconstructing the year from memory in October. Log events, metrics, and outcomes when they happen; tag them to NCOER categories; review before you sit down with the official form.

Nothing in Green Book submits to eMILPO, IPPS-A, or your S-1. Final bullets, signatures, and counseling still follow Army and unit process.

Typical workflow

Throughout the rating period, add short accomplishment entries when something measurable happens — range qualified 38/40, led inventory with zero discrepancies, mentored two promotable specialists. Include dates and context your rater might ask about later.

Before the NCOER deadline, filter by category, merge duplicates, and draft bullet language. Share exports with your rater through your unit’s approved channel — email, share drive, or face-to-face review — not by assuming Green Book is the system of record.

Draft-only and rating-chain review

Green Book does not grade you, does not predict your evaluation, and does not replace your rater or senior rater. Every bullet should be reviewed for accuracy, proportionality, and alignment with unit standards before it appears on an official NCOER.

Exaggerated metrics or classified details do not belong in the helper. Use unclassified, factual language you would stand behind in front of the soldier.
