Army training, qualification, safety, and risk management references

Find training policy, weapons qualification references, and risk management guidance. Distinguish AR 350-1, TC 3-20.40, and ATP 5-19.

Choose the right reference

Planning training involves several levels of guidance. AR 350-1 sets training and leader development policy. Training doctrine helps leaders design and assess the plan; qualification circulars address particular training and qualification subjects. Safety policy and risk management connect the plan to hazards, controls, and responsibilities. One worksheet or range schedule cannot replace all of those references.

Begin with the task: a school or policy question, a unit training plan, an individual qualification event, or a risk assessment. Follow the matching publication and any activity-specific guidance. For risk management, ATP 5-19 connects the process to troop leading and staff planning and includes DD Form 2977 instructions. GreenBook helps organize preparation, while official qualification records and risk acceptance remain with the responsible authorities.
