Army schools, education, and professional development references

Compare institutional training requirements, ACES education, NCO professional development, and retention policy before researching an Army school or career decision.

Choose the right reference

A school, an education program, and a professional development opportunity may support the same career goal while following different rules. AR 350-10 addresses institutional training requirements and ATRRS. AR 621-5 addresses the Army Continuing Education System. DA PAM 600-25 provides NCO professional development context across career management fields. These references help identify whether the question concerns training administration, education services, or development planning.

Start with the action you need and the office responsible for it. A career development guide is not a promotion checklist, and a training requirements reference does not create a course reservation. Use leadership doctrine for development discussions and the appropriate personnel authority for assignments or continued service. This hub connects those purposes so a Soldier can prepare useful questions for training staff, mentors, education counselors, and career counselors.
